Lets talk Oily Skin.
Personally, i think Oily skin, is one of the hardest skin types to deal with. Not only does it cause blocked pores, but also different types of acne, irritation, inflammation and leads to damaged skin if not cared for right. When preforming your nightly skin care routine, you should remember these three basic rules:
1. Prevent clogged Pores
Oily Skin means excessive oil production, causing a higher chance of experiencing clogged pores. What does this mean you ask? preventing clogged pores should be one of your main priorities in your skin care routine.
Double Cleansing on a daily basis is crucial for EVERYONE. But is a great method for my Oily Skin babes, to prevent clogged pores building up as excess oil and dirt should be removed everyday…because who wants bacteria growing on our face… am i right? Start your cleansing process with a quick gentle cleanser, then moving on to a pH-balanced foam cleanser. This will clean the drier parts of the face while hydrating it, and the Foam will clean the oily parts of the skin and remove excess oils, to even out the skin texture.
When we talk about keeping the pores clear and clean, exfoliation is another must in our skincare routine. Choose a BHA product to exfoliate, as this acid can help reduce oil production, as well as travel deep into the pores to get rid of dead skin cells and impurities lurking beneath.
2. Maintaining the skin’s water – oil balance
Your skin will produce more oil the more your skin becomes dehydrated, so it's important to keep your skin hydrated to control sebum production. Choosing a lightweight moisturiser, such as Skeyndor Moisturising Emulsion, will provide the moisture your skin needs without any heavy or greasy feeling.
Invest into serums to boost antioxidants and for deeper penetration of hydration. Now trust me, i know you've heard this one under the sun, but drinking water is truly a miracle for your skin in terms of keeping it hydrated, youthful and plump.
3. Never forget sunscreen
Surely by now we should all be aware that sun rays is one of the main causes of premature ageing, but did you also know that it can effect your sebum production as well? Overexposure to the sun will cause your skin to dry out, causing your sebaceous glands to produce more and more sebum, next thing you know your breaking out crazy. Hence why applying sunscreen in your everyday morning routine is very important.
Know your skin. Know how to treat it.
